A previous post commented on the distinction between seedlings and plants; I now have a similar comment about plants versus trees!  Earlier this week, I purchased two fig "plants" at $5 each.  A lot better than paying $80 for a "tree".  But I must be prepared to wait a year or two for fruit.  Considering the price difference, I'm willing to take the chance.  The variety is unknown, but the plants look very well kept! I will have to decide in the fall whether I want to maintain them indoors or take a chance on either planting them outdoors or perhaps overwintering them in the greenhouse.  The idea of fresh figs is worth the risk!
