Bug Identification - Can you Name This Bug?

Does anybody know what this bug is?  It is in my house (just a few) year-round - Eastern Ontario area.  They give me the creeps. I think my cat ate one once and drooled for a couple of hours afterwards - I just want to be sure they aren't poisonous.

Very slow moving so easy to kill and I only see one now and then.  But I'd like to know what it is so please leave a comment if you can identify it - this one in the picture above is a bit smaller than real-life but pretty close.

  1. The Western Conifer Seed Bugs that have been invading are perfectly harmless. They are merely seeking shelter from the upcoming cold weather. The Western Conifer Seed Bug is native to the Pacific Northwest, not Massachusetts. Beginning the in 1970s, it greatly expanded its range across North America in the northern latitudes.

    1. Thanks for the info, PK. I just googled these bugs and it makes sense - my property includes a large number of pine trees where they lay eggs. Ugh, they still give me the creeps.
