It's all about greens this week. I am very grateful for the rains we had Sunday and I expect plants to explode a bit over the next few days. But for now, I've just got some greens to harvest. This batch includes (clockwise) black kale, white Russian kale, spinach, mustard, radish.

Wow, that really is a nice collection of greens and beautiful radishes as well.

ReplyDeleteWith all of the hot weather, I thought my greens would be a mess (especially the kale) but I guess I've watered enough and they came out pretty healthy.
DeleteHurray for White Russian, which was in my harvest basket this week too. It's lovely that the greens are up and going - after all or work, we are finally being rewarded with some good eats.
ReplyDeleteI am so happy the greens are finally kicking in - I've had greens envy for a while now looking at everyone else's blogs.
DeleteGreat job on the radishes and greens.
ReplyDeleteWe had some nice rain too which has made things grow here. You have some lovely greens!
ReplyDeleteThanks Dave! I was soooo happy when it finally rained!
DeleteDitto on the rain. I worked furiously Saturday to get as much planted as I could before the rain. It's nice you are also getting radishes with the greens.
ReplyDeleteMe too, I got all my cucurbits in before the rain hit!
DeleteYour spinach and greens look amazing. I haven't been able to grow spinach successfully at all in Kentucky.
ReplyDeleteYes, I can imagine. I struggle with greens bolting early on but it must be a lot worse in your area.
DeleteYep, we finally got a soaking too. Lovely greens, is there a big difference between black kale and white Russian kale?
ReplyDeleteFor me, I find the black kale (Nero di Toscano) is thicker in texture (more like broccoli leaf) and maybe white kale has slightly more of a sweeter flavour. But not a whole lot of difference ...
DeleteYep, we finally got a good soaking too. Plants are happy and definitely will be exploding.
