Harvest Monday: August 7, 2017

Thanks to the greenhouse, I've got a whack of cherry tomatoes!  These are Hahms Gelbe ... a dwarf determinate variety.  I have three plants, all of which are very productive.

And Mountain Princess tomatoes are ripening well also.

A first this week ... cukes!

Some old and some new ... the 8-ball zucchini is another first. Still have these Tromboncino that aren't quite forming properly.

And the first carrots!

And here's a surprise repeat ... I don't normally harvest rhubarb this late in the year but there is so much of it still with this cool, wet summer we are having.  So another 5 pounds of rhubarb went into the freezer this weekend.  Also beans ...

And let's see what other gardeners around the world are doing this week by popping over to Harvest Monday hosted by Dave at Our Happy Acres!

  1. A "whack" of tomatoes--is that like a gaggle of geese? They look like delightful little bites for sure. Congrats on first cukes, zukes, and carrots!

    1. Hmm. I think I might be the only person to use that term to describe "large quantity of". It seems to have a lot of other connotations unrelated to veggies, now that I think about it.

  2. I'm not sure what that is with the sliced tomatoes, basil leaves and what looks like mozarella, but it sure looks tasty. I just copied your recipe for lamb and red bean chili, something I've thought about making but never have. Thanks.

    1. Yup, burrata a.k.a. buffalo mozzarella. Yummy. And I really hope you like the recipe for the lamb chili!

  3. I see a ripe pepper accompanying that whack of cherry tomatoes! Tomato Basil Mozzarella/Burrata is such a genius dish, that was the first thing I thought of when I harvested my first slicing tomato this week.

  8. Some great harvests rolling in! That tomato plant is looking great - one of the benefits of growing in the greenhouse as mine are already coming down with blight.
